An Interview With Olivia Greaves

1. How did you get involved in gymnastics?
My mom opened a gym when I was born and I remember just always running around and jumping in classes.

2. Where do you train? How many hours a week do you have to train?
I train at WCC in Texas, and we train 34 hours a week

3. What are your short and long term goals in the sport?
My short term goal is to get back out there. I’m doing bars at Championships and hoping to place. My long term goal would be to win a National Championship in college and maybe make a World’s Team.

5. What advice do you have for young athletes who aspire to be like you?
My advice would be to never give up. There are going be a lot of setbacks but that doesn’t mean it’s over. And, always live in the moment and enjoy every second!

6. How did you balance gymnastics and school?
I’ve been homeschooled since 5th grade so that definitely helped with my gym schedule. Especially during meets if I needed to take a few days off school I was able to have that flexibility.

7. What has been the biggest setback you have overcome in the sport? How?
My biggest setback has probably been when I tore my ACL. The timing was very unfortunate because I was finally feeling like myself and ready to show everyone my gymnastics. The recovery has been long and I’m still even trying to recover. I’ve just been trying to stay positive and lean on my family and coaches for support.

8. Who is your inspiration as a gymnast and just generally in life?
My inspiration as a gymnast was always Nastia Liukin. Her lines on bars are so beautiful. Another gymnast I really look up to is Simone Biles. She’s so sweet and has really helped me the last few years at WCC. In general life, the people who inspire me most are my family. They’ve always been so supportive and I want to make them proud.

9. I’m sure you’re excited about college gymnastics. Would you mind sharing what made you choose Auburn University?
I decided on Auburn University because the minute I stepped on the campus it felt like home. It was such a beautiful campus, the coaches are amazing and I’m so excited to be a part of their team.
10. What advice would you give to your younger self?
The advice I’d give to my younger self is that it will all be worth it, so always remain positive and never give up!

11. Favorite place you’ve traveled for gymnastics?
Definitely Switzerland. I wish I got to see more but it was such a beautiful country.

12. Outside hobbies/interests?
I love hanging with my friends and watching sunsets.

13. Any favorite quotes?
One of my favorite quotes since I was little has been, “Dreams don’t work unless you do.”

14. Any fun facts you’d like to share about yourself?
I can sleep just about anywhere.

15. What do you like about Quatro?
The quality of Quatro’s apparel is just so amazing and I love all of their designs. I’m so happy to be working with them, and I’m really excited about the release of the leotard I designed! I named this leotard the “Phoenix,” because it embodies power, strength, and inspiration.
